As a provider of innovative and advanced technologies, Omnitracs understands how important it is to have access to the tools necessary to learn, create and communicate. Recently, the company was able to make a sizeable donation to Computers 2 San Diego Kids (C2SDK), an organization providing computers to underserved children.

Valued at nearly $8,000, the donation was comprised of more than 340 devices, namely retired computer equipment from its offices in San Diego. The inventory—spanning laptops, monitors, PCs and even printers—will help many local children in San Diego become computer literate.

“Our team saw an opportunity to donate our equipment to a good cause that can actually make a difference for the youth in our community,” said Chuck Pierce, senior manager of IT services at Omnitracs in San Diego. “As a leading technology company, we see the importance in making sure local kids have access to vital technology they’ll be using for the rest of their lives.”

The goal of C2SDK is to provide qualified children and their families with computers to help them become computer literate, while simultaneously increasing local access to educational, occupational and financial resources. The company accepts donated items that are old, retired or broken and recycles or refurbishes them. Each refurbished device is then reloaded with essential software and donated to pre-approved recipients. C2SDK also provides each recipient with education, training and technical support necessary to achieve success.
