It’s no secret that out-of-service violations have a serious and negative impact on driver safety, as well as a fleet’s productivity and bottom line. And, fleets are becoming increasingly concerned with this growing issue. Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) recently reported that the number of out-of-service violations rose for the second year, with at least one in seven vehicles failing inspection. Additionally, 3,248 trucks were placed out of service for brake-related violations—that is 15.3% of the 21,255 trucks inspected.
As you likely already know, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) in conjunction with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) will conduct the annual Roadcheck program June 5-7, 2012. Roadcheck is the largest targeted enforcement program on commercial vehicles in the world, with approximately 14 trucks or buses being inspected, on average, every minute from Canada to Mexico during a 72-hour period.
