Omnitracs Announces Compliance Strategy and Planned ELD Support in 2020
Mike Ahart, VP of Regulatory Affairs, leads efforts to help fleets navigate the evolving landscape
(DALLAS, TX) December 19, 2019 – Omnitracs, LLC, a global pioneer of fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies, today announced that Mike Ahart, VP of Regulatory Affairs, will be leading efforts to help fleets with their electronic logging device (ELD) compliance strategy. With the final U.S. ELD mandate deadline being enforced in December 2019 and the Canadian ELD mandate compliance slated for June 2021, Ahart and the Omnitracs team will partner with fleets to help them remain compliant throughout 2020 and in the coming years.
For many fleets, replacing legacy automatic onboard recording devices (AOBRDs) with ELDs has been a major focus for 2019. An industry study released earlier this year found that 52 percent of fleets planned to hold off on adopting ELDs until right before the December deadline. Managers and drivers sought to understand how the transition would impact their operations and determine the most effective path forward. Under Ahart’s leadership this year, Omnitracs has helped numerous customers navigate the evolving regulatory landscape and ensure organizational success before, during and after their transition.

At the upcoming Omnitracs Outlook 2020 located in Las Vegas, Nevada, Ahart will be conducting a panel discussion focusing on key issues and trends that fleets need to know in order to meet today’s compliance standards. The team will also be diving even deeper into the transition from AOBRDs, and how Omnitracs is helping fleets retain historical data to paint a more complete picture of driver data.
